Thank you all for your replies.
The former right front tire was badly worn/scalloped on the inside due to rear end misalignment.It had been in the rear previously.
I exchanged it with the left rear and the thumping is now gone, from the front. I'll get new tires in the spring.
The car is approaching 200,00 kms (120,00 miles), and I will not be investing too much more into it.
Tires for safety's sake will not be neglected.
