I have a 95 GL. When in gear with brake on , say at a red light, the engine and dash shakes alot, its annoying. Anyone have a clue as to what it might be? I turn off the heat and it will stop for 30 sec, then shake again until I drive.

When you say you turn off the heat that to me indicates your problem might be vacuum related. I'd check your vacuum lines, etc under the hood. I have a '95GL and I replaced the vacuum harness and it runs absolutlely smooth...you can't tell the engine is running! Runs better than my 2001 Saturn!

I used to have that problem when I would slow down coming up to a red light. The dash would vibrate. I replaced the brake rotors and it was fine.


1995 Contour LX, KIA w/ 156,264 miles. The memory will always live on.....
Replaced by a 1999 Toyota Solara SLE.....

I will check for vacuum leaks. The problem isnt the rotors. I just replaced front rotors and the axle and the bearing. So its not that.
Yeah if the heat is on and i come to a red light the car just vibrates alot. IF I turn the heat off for a min it will stop for a SHORT time and vibrate to hell again. Its very annoying.
Any certain vaccuum lines in mind? I am not to familiar with the motor yet. And where things are. Even though motors are generally the same

could be your motor mount(s). when your heat is on the motor is under more of a load making it likely to vibrate more (especially on bad mounts). my gf's car is doing the exact same thing right now and i know her mounts are bad, just haven't had time to get to them. check them out to make sure.

Yeah maybe it is the motor mounts, It does it when the heat is off as well, but more often when its on.
I will have it all checked out.

inspect your motor mount pop the hood put car in drive an rev the engine if it looks like the motor wants 2 jump out the car you have a bad mount 2 test the otherside mount put the car in reverse and repeat same steps there should be only a small amount of movement

MOst likely it is your torque converter . Locking up. Hope not though . If your luckey its only the lock up solinoid. But i just hope you have a trust wortyh person to scan it for you. GOOD LUCK MAN?????? confused
