They really are two different kinds of tire. It really depends on what you're looking for in a tire. The Falken Azenis is great for ultimate dry traction at the expense of some tread life and grip in adverse weather. The Yoko ES100 is an all-around performer that's supposed to work fairly well in dry and wet conditions with decent tread life.

What about the Falken FK-451, Azenis will not wear well at all. Per the web site they do not make the tire in a 18" diameter.

see post here for prices and location buy in So-Cal for the FK-451.

I think both look great and both get good reviews.

Actually I had Azenis on my old car and I thought they wore fairly well. Driven hard on an SVT and rotated once in a while I don't see why they wouldn't last around 15,000 miles at least. Although you could probably get twice that with the Yoko's.

Also be aware that the azenis is heavy. I have 225/45/17's and according to scc, who has the same exact tire on project silvia, they weight like 24 pounds or somehting. My wheel and tire combined probably weighs around 40 or so. perhaps something to consider.

Hmm, thanks for mentioning the Yoko's. I just went to tirerack.com and checked out these new ES100s. They seem to get really positive ratings from folks, and it's a new tires and CHEAP too!

Seems like a better choice than the Kumhos, and perhaps in between those and the S-03s for pure performance.
