Yeah, I'm finding that out. I guess at the time, there didn't seem to be much selection much larger diameter and still keep the low profile sidewall. I don't like the looks of the 215/45 sidewall, IMHO. Too high.
I *do* want to get closer to OEM diam., but I like the lower profile look and so that puts me at the 225+/40- range. Just concerned it will fit.
And yeah, I agree about the quality of the tire being more important. Also, *I'm not concerned so much with the price*, or any other aspect or feature, but dry/wet traction and handling are key and if they come at a better price all the better. Basically if it can meet or exceed the KDW's performance. They're the baseline. I can't deal with anything less.
I was bigtime spoiled by them. I haven't ever driven on a better tire. And I say this because no other tire let me do 120+mph in light slush/ freezing rain, on I-75, on concrete, in the curves. It felt like I could have done more, but I think I used my share of luck that day already. I know it was stupid, but the feeling was pretty sweet at the time!

P.S. Correction on the price of the Nitto's. After checking discounttiredirect.com, I saw the $130 price.
I also am following your load concerns, tboner.
