Straight from a email I sent to SHM (Sean Hyland Motorsports) concerning the billet fuel rail. Jessie, Our rail can be used as both systems. Returnless and return style. They are returnless out of the factory. If you want a return style, add a fitting on the back of the rail. If you want a returnless, leave the plug in. That simple. Scott SHM Looks like one more part we can to our cars.....

2003 Subaru WRX some mods
Even if you don't have the answer, you certainly have to admire the problem.

I believe most pre98s are return fuel systems, easier for nitrous... and 98+ are returnless, like the focus... pain in anus for nitrous...
and if you are talking about the focus fuel rail, then you know that the fuel pressure regulator on the focus is in a fuel line to the top passenger side of the engine bay, not on the fuel rail itself like on the tours...

'98 and '98.5 guys (like me) may want to be certain. Sometime around there is when they went from return to returnless (I'm return, for example).
