Flex plates don't weigh much.
What you really want is a smaller Torque Converter.

What are the benefits of a smaller Torque Converter? Less weight = less inertia or is there something else there?

Smaller Torque Converter for the ATX, will give you almost same benefits as a lighter flywheel for an MTX.
Once the engine gets into the upper Torque range, the lower mass of a
smaller Torque Converter will allow the engine to accelerate quicker.
If you mod your engine to enhance breathing, you will also notice quicker starts off the line.

Smaller Torque Converters will also require better COOLING for your ATX,
and if your ATX has a lot of mileage on it, you just might want to reconsider a complete Level Ten rebuild.
Then all you will need to do is add an Air-to-Oil cooler.
