You have to determine if the drawings are to scale first. If they are to scale, then you can just use normal geometric shapes to fit in the area to get a good idea of the size. Easiest way is probably the 'strip' method where you use a 1 cm wide strip and measure the length of it as you lay it on the drawing sequentially from left to right while being sure not to leave any gaps.
There are other mathematical solutions since it appears to be a piece cut out of a washer shape (i.e. piece of an arc).
