I don't believe the size of the pad is that different.
Peep these pics of both the E0 and the standard pads
They are cut from the BAT catalog. By looking at the scale drawings, I'm not convinced the E0 pads have more surface area than do the E1 pads. The E0 pads extend closer to the rotor hat compared to the E1 pads, but the bottom portion is much more narrow in comparison to the top, and the arc of the pad is smaller than the E1 pad.
I'm not convinced there is much difference in the surface area.
