Since I am upgrading to the E0 rims with 205/50/16s, do I have to replace my 135/80/15 spare? Or will it work with the new E0 and tires?

No need to change the spare.

That reminds me. Someone said that if I get bigger brakes, my spare won't fit any more. Do SVTs use a different spare? I wonder how hard it is to get one. A Focus SVT spare would probably fit over any imaginable brake disc...

You have a couple of choices.

A spare from a late FWD Cougar or an SVT (I dunno 'bout the Focus but definately the FSVT).

Or

If you have a front flat, put your spare on the rear, then rotate the rear up front, replacing the flat.

One thing I've always wondered; how do compact spares work with ABS? I mean, ABS works by measuring the speed of each wheel, and pulsing the wheel if it rotates at a different speed than the rest, sooooo wouldn't it pulse the compact wheel because it rotates at a different rate due to the size? How does that work?

the little doughnut tire wasnt made for long trips or to drag race so hopefully your ABS doent kick on while your doughnuts on.

No, it doesn't kick in because of different speed. It only kicks in when a wheel stops suddenly while the others doesn't. It doesn't matter if you have a compact size on, it'll still work. Might not work as good because the spare tire is tiny to begin with, but it'll work.

Yes, SVTs have a different spare. If you get bigger brakes, you will need a different spare.

unless you're selling or otherwise getting rid of current wheels i would say keep one of them to use a spare...much better than rolling on the donut, but u lose trunk space...that doesn't matter to me tho since i dont carry much in mine

im glad to see someone else getting the e0's on thier pre98...i didn't like them at first and have had my heart set on a set of e1's and maybe the fsvt 17's...but the look of e0's on the first gen cars has really grown on me...me likes em now and im leaning in that direction since they are cheaper to buy than e1's

my wallet just seems to keep leaning in the opposite direction from anything i want to do
