you'd be surprised. I can think of four or five caprices around town that are Impala SS fakes, some look pretty good and one of them had me fooled until I talked to him. Then there is one caprice w/ bright orange paint job and all white interior with Impala SS stickers on it, he's not fooling anyone. Seems to be more fake SS's around here than say SI Civics.

That's cool. You have a right to be offended by whatever you like, however we can only speculate at what AirKnight meant with his post. Since he hasn't clarified himself I'll let it be.

Regardless of what AK meant, I think it is the best practice for folks to first ASK HIM WHAT HE MEANT, instead of getting offended at what is only potentially a racists comment.
But to get offended by the potential, without asking him for clarification is just silly.
I'm too lazy to go back and read all of the comments to see if I can work it out for myself.
However, generally speaking, would all parties be better off if you simply asked him what he meant, rather than assuming he pulled a "Trent Lott"
I think there are too many people in this world just waiting to be offended, so they go off on anyone who mis-speaks.

No, someone got a billet grille...look at the rear 1/4 panel. It has the pressed impala ss logo...only way to get that is remove the panel and press it in or get a new one and replace it. And, the impala's always had that angle cut at the bottom of the rear window, next to the impala logo. Regular caprice's had the window there come to a perfect triangle point. Though I have noticed 9C1 Caprice's with rear windows like that. It's definitley an impala, they are pretty easy to find so it seems like alot of time and money to spend when you don't have to.
As far as them not having the corvette engine...ok, well in that year they still used the 270hp LT1 5.7l V8 in the corvette. Minus whatever injection you're talking about, it's still the same motor - meaning, VERY mod friendly.
I once found a guy selling an impala SS right after I got my car. I helped him get it started because his car alarm was messed up and not letting the car start. He had all types of trans work, and, a nice supercharger. He said he last dynoed at 420RWHP, and that was before some other stuff he id. I think he was looking to sell for like 11k too...damn...
