260HP in a 4500 pound automatic car with the unsprung weight of a small elephant?

They have the Corvette engine in them. They're capable of running 12's or faster, some are running 11's. I forgot what's their webpage, they can be fast in the quarter. They can handle decent too. BTW, what I really hate is those blinging wheels... Very good way to destroy an otherwise very nice car... Why can't they all be as cool as Antonio in the taste department?

Lord know how long it takes that SS to stop...look at the tiny rotors swallowed by those 24's(?) Anyone wanna take a guess at how much each one of those wheels weighs??? -Neal

the key word there being "capable"...i was refering to stock which isn't all that fast...any v8 car can be made to run 11's or 12's ...i was refering to stock...

More like 270hp, and lots more torque than our cars will put out. They will get the jump on you and keep it unless you really beat on your car. I've seen 1/4 mile times as low as 14.9. Not bad for a car that size. I've always wanted one...black... - The rims are for crap though.

For those who don't think an Impala SS can move or handle, check out our results from last years AutoX.
http://wcsllc.net/stlsolo/2002_results.htm
Look in the E Street Prepared category, and you will see an Impala SS in the top two almost every even beating or being barely beaten by Mustangs and such.
Don't look at my times and compare them, either, LOL.

Hmm, Let me think this one out clearly. Okay, the reason "they" all can't be "cool" like me is because "they" are not me. Just because they might be black, Latino whatever that does not me we all share the same tastes. In regards to the picture. I only see two things wrong. The car is dirty as hell and the drop is not even. Fix those two things and the car would be tight IMHO.
Please don't make me or even suggest that I represent the "Black" culture because I don't. I represent my OWN style that I grab from every culture. If you look at my car you will see "Hood Rich", "Import Racer", "Low Rider" all mixed into to one to complete the "Ultimate" Ride for me and me only.

I am not talking about every Impala SS in the world, simply this one. If you recognize this guy from your AutoX, I suppose it would be legitimate, until then I am simply stating this car would not "rip anyone a new hole"...
1. Automatic. I know just as well as anyone that this means drivetrain loss. 2. 260 HP in a 4500 pound car. I think I am being fair with 4500 pounds, I do not know. Yes it has a healthy amount of V8 torque, but it is still heavy, heavy, and more heavy. 2. Judging from the size of the brake rotors and the uneven drop, he probably just cut or heated his springs. Do not think it will be tearing too many up on the twisties any time soon. 4. Wheels. If you like the looks, fine. But the unsprung weight has to be crippling that car. Not just hurting it, but "cutting its legs off" crippling.
OT, do you think the success of the Impala SS at your AutoX might be partially due to the "point and click" nature of the ATX? Or was there a heavy (pun intended) dose of other ATX cars there?
