Mine was a pain (sorta)
i didnt remove any panels for the wiring to i basically spent a good hour going from the pedals and up trying to wire the gauges at night with a flashlite...i ended up with several cuts... (no pain no gain)

after that, removing the trim around the gauge...VERY easy
removing the gauge itself for me (at first) as a BIOTCHH!!! the wires were so tight in the back, that i could not pull the gauge out far enuf to unclip...eventually i got in there, and pulled the wires free so they come out further now for the future (cause i know i'll have to go back in)

it's worth it.
