Sorry the quality is so bad tho, it's a scan from a photograph I took... The actual image is about 9x30, I'm gonna try to get the picture itself scanned in the big scanners at school, but I don't go back till the 13th, so I'll keep you posted. Anyways, this is just a random sports car I did towards the end ofthe semester, yeah I know some parts of it are a little odd lol but it's all a learning process I have some other pics I scanned too, let me know if you wanna see them. My style has vastly changed since I started this year. At the beginnning of the semester we could only use indigo blue prismacolors on vellum, as we progressed we got into black, then markers, color, and finally nupastel, bestine, and guash for highlights. Unfortunatly this sem. I have to take product design as a supplement to trans.. But next year we do some clay modeling. It's kind of up in the air weather we'll ever use computers for design work however. As companies like Chrysler, which is funding a project for the Junior class, has told them to not use computers. It appears companies want most if not all the work done on paper now, in interesting trend... Anyways, if you want to know more or see more pics just let me know, I've still got two weeks of break and not much else to do lol, and if you want me to *try* and render you a pic I may be able to do that too lol thanks

Absolutely Amazing is all that I can say. You have some real talent. I cant draw nearly that well, even after 2 year of drawing classes for architecture that are sopposed to teach me to "render" and whatnot. Truely Impressive. Cool design to btw. I'd love to see more.

In design, computers aren't really used to design per say. They used as a tool to convey the design that you have already done. You know what I mean? If I were you, I would find the software (solidwork, alias, rhino, etc), and then run through the tutorials, find more tutorials on the internet and just learn the program on your own.
Excellent rendering by the way.

Yeah, I have both the Rhino and 3DS demo CDs, just havn't messed with them that much. What I ment when I said not using computers much I ment for editing and/or creating 2D images from scratch, stuff like photoshop. Sure I'll use photoshop to fix some of my images but from what I heard about the Chrysler project that don't even want that to happen Which I guess is okay becuase you really need to have an artistic backing, I'm sure once you're not a student you can use the computer as much as you want...

Exactly. If you can draw, and draw well you can go places. There are too many schools out there that don't emphasize this enough and design students are going to come out of school with not being about to draw. So sad.

If you wanted to get the software, and get it legally, student editions are excellent. Or even use the computer labs at your school. I am assuming that the design department you are in has a computer lab personally catered for you guys. The computer lab at OSU Design school is like me second home.
I don't know if you have come across www.core77.com in your design career yet, but if not, now you have. Its an awsome resource.

lol yeah, I spend a lot of time in the Mac G4/Dell labs, the I.D. department just got a brand new 4 story building this year, with clay modling facilities and huge spray booths, a rapid fabicator and lots of other crazy stuff. I have the student edition of photshop 7, it was like 300 dollers... A friend of mine who does 3D animation was telling me about the student edition of some program that goes for 1200! and normally the program is like 7000... What a smack in the face lol. I mess with photoshop a lot but the problem is getting the big images scanned... lol
EDIT: Thanks for the site, I've never seen it before, I frequent cardesignnews.com a lot

That's awsome about the new building. The Design building at OSU is something like 50 years old and shows its age very well. I want a new building. And a new spray booth! Ours sucks.
Still love your drawing... nice work.
