Didn't get an owner's manual with my car and I apparently don't know how to operate the standard Ford alarm. I have the four button key fob. Either pushing the "lock" button on the fob or the door lock button on the driver's door with the key out of the ignition will set the alarm. Light/button to the left of the steering wheel blinks twice, pause, blinks twice, and so on. There's also a Valet mode where if you push the blinking light/button once, the light will blink just once, pause, blink once, and so on. Pushing the unlock button on the key fob will either do nothing or cause the car horn to beep repeatedly as if the alarm was set off. My only recourse, if I want to use the alarm, is to unlock the driver's door and quickly get the key in the ignition to disarm the alarm. Am I missing something or doing something wrong or is there maybe a problem with my alarm? Thanks!

There is no factory alarm. You have an aftermarket alarm. It may be a Ford brand dealer installed alarm. You will not find instructions for it in the owners manual. Try to find a dealer that installs Ford brand alarms (not many do) and see if they can provide you with a Zerox copy of the alarm manual. If you can determine the original selling dealer they may also be able to help. They may need to see the car to determine which one you have.

Okay Big Jim, thanks. I'll get a download for the manual. My dealer is supposed to get me one but it's been a few weeks so maybe I'll have to settle for the download. I guess the alarm is integrated with the keyless entry system and that's why I thought it was a Ford alarm.
