DanKBUD,

Have you tried playing MP3s that are in folders? If so, does the folder name show up on the deck or just "folder01, folder02", etc?

Yes, it displays the folder name. not FOLDER 1 and FOLDER 2. it can display the file name, folder name, cd name and a hell of alot more stuff. i usually leave it on the mp3 filename so i know which song is playing as opposed to knowing which folder its in. man this HU rocks bro. im soo glad i bought it. theres actually ONLY ONE thing i dont like is that when u choose random, it plays the files of the folder that its in instead of choosing random songs from different folders. i think* itll play all the songs in 1 folder random, then move to the next folder. i dont remember. not that its a big deal or anything. but like i said. this is the best HU ive bought. has excellent features and [censored] like that.

i installed my Alpine cda-7897. oversized face and plays mp3's. so far i've been very impressed with the sound quality. i love alpine's hu's and amps. not a big fan of their speakers or subs tho. it was a little tricky to fit the hu right so that the oversized face could rotate out correctly and not get stuck on the plastic molding over the DIN slot. gotta love the knob too!

Dan, thanks for the reply. I have the MPV619 and I can't get it to display the folder's name. As I scroll through the folders, it only displays folder01, folder02, etc. I just looked in the manual and it says folder names have a character length of 64 so I don't know what the problem is. Other than that, I'm definitely enjoying the player.

Do you have pictures of the head unit installed?

Check ur manual, it might be a setting in there. now that i think about it, when i scroll through it MIGHT say folder 1 and folder 2. but when its in the folder, i have to change the display button(file name, disc play time, time, folder name.) to folder in order to see what the name of that folder is. so it might not say it as u change folders but if u change the display thing it might tell u the folder name.
