I'm looking for another head unit that can play MP3's. One of the guy in the local car group has a Clarion unit (one that has a motorized face plate that is bigger than the slot), and I like it a lot. What other ones should I look at? I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for it, but I want something that has custom adjustable EQ and can display MP3 ID tags.

I just got a Pioneer P8400MP. Great unit so far. Easy to find your way through the different folders and songs. Displays the name of the folders, song title, artist, bit rate, etc. Really nice unit. Try BuyDigitalDirect and search for it. They have it on sale for like $319 with shipping. Comes with 3 sets of RCA pre-outs, and remote control. Joe

I have a Alpine CDA-7894 it plays MP3's and motorized face. Check the classifieds for MP3 players also.

Get the Pioneer 740mp (different than the 7400mp). It has three 4V pre-outs, and a 2 year warranty. It's part of their "premier" line. I just got one off ebay- $220.

If you already have an aftermarket deck, check to see if they make an mp3 capable changer to go with it. Of course you'd want your deck to be ID3 tag capable. I just added a Sony 6-cd mp3 changer for $130 from Crutchfield...only up to track 100 on the first disc

I've got the Blaupunkt MP3000 and am satisfied with it. It displays ID3 tags, but doesn't have a customizable EQ, just basic bass, treble, fader, loudness, and a bass boost function, but it's $160 +tax at BJ's Wholesale. PM me if you want to check it out in my CSVT.
