Not exactly. They guarentee them to 150,000 mi. They want to install a piece of metal on the front springs to keep a broken spring from cutting the tire.

Seems kind weird. They say that the springs rust out, then they give ya a plate to keep the snow & salt up there longer.

Some don't like the fix - they say that it makes too much noise.

I have the shields on mine. Yes, there are noises, but it's not a really quiet car anyway.

A week ago, my springs broke and it is still at the dealer. I'm just wondering if I can get away without paying for the repair. Some Valet f'ed up my car on new years eve and it would be a lot harder to go after them then it would to go after ford.

Have the dealer check OASIS to see if the program for springs applies to your car. If it is not on OASIS it is not for your car. If it is not on OASIS, ask your service manager to ask Ford for some After Warranty Adjustment money to help pay for the repair. It doesn't hurt to ask and it just might help.

here's the link to a Suspension category thread.

I had it done, and removed a couple of weeks later. The groaning sounds were driving me nuts.

Why the hell would you want someone who is not responsible for the problems your car has to pay for fixing it? Make the responsible party pay. If the Valet screwed your car up, sue his employer. If its Ford's fault, then by all means sue Ford.

What you want to do is like a family member suing the police when an innocent bystander is injured/killed during a police pursuit. They aren't looking for money per se, and I'm sure they feel grief, but the only reason they sue the police is because they know that the police are connected to a government body with deep pockets, and they will actually receive any money awarded. Otherwise, they would be suing the person who actually caused the situation, the a$$hole running from the cops....

Too many damn lawsuits in our country.

I'm trying to find the party responsible. If ford put bad springs on my car then I'll go to Ford but if this problem was caused by the Valet A$$ hole then I'll go after him. It happens to be that the spring recall dose not cover SVT's, or at least they said for my car. The spring in my car is different then the SE's of GL's. That okay because I'm going to bite the bullet and pay all $800 dollars damage to my car, or am I wrong? Should I stand up for my self and take Lot company to small claims?? $800 dollars is a lot of money...

I had the recall done a few weeks ago and it did cause a banging noise when the springs were depressed greatly. Dealer had no idea (big shock) after I looked at it i reallized the back of the bracket they mounted hit rubbed the spring itself. Well 20 minute with a ball hammer fixed them both and good as new again.
