how do u know what speed rpm to be at to begin the shift

When I did it, I revved to 3000, gently pulled the car out of gear, and put gentle pressure on the next gear, at about 2500rpm it slipped right in.

Just call me confused!!  Clutch less shifting requires one to match engine speed with transmission speed. What measures do we have that will allow us to determine if (1) the engine speed and (2) the transmission speed and (3) the rolling speed of the car are matched up to a point where a clutch less shift into the appropriate gear will be possible. In F1 computer indicator lights flash to tell the driver when the best (performance wise within all of those parameters) time to shift, up or downm, is. Of course the driver still determines when to shift. (1)Q. How can you tell how fast the engine is revving? (1)A. You can tell how fast the engine is revving by looking at the tachometer. (3)Q. How can tell how fast the car is moving? (3)A. You can tell how fast the car is moving by looking at the speedometer. (2)Q. How can you tell what the transmission speed is for each gear? (2)A. No answer. 4 Q. Which gear is it appropriate and safe to shift into without the clutch at that given moment when the engine speed and rolling speed are known? 4 A. No Answer but I would think that there are Four exact or well defined situations (engine, rolling, and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and overdrive gear speeds) for all up shifts and down shits. Any thoughts?

Try a search. I covered this in great detail in the past.
Matching the speed of the appropriate parts of the transmission is something you feel. You put some gentle pressure on the shifter toward the gear that you want it to go into and the stick will virtually jump into place when the speeds are equal. If you are upshifting, you allow the engine speed to drop. If you are downshifting you gently rev the engine. Please do a search. I don't want to spend a half hour writing it out again.

If you think 3 pedals is one too many, buy an automatic!

Downshifting can be tricky, but when upshifting, slide the car out of gear and press firmy on the next highest gear, as gear systems work the next gear will place the engine at lower rpms, so when the engine hits these rpms it will just pop into gear.

Answer: You just have to know your car and it's gearing...You need to know exactly how much the rpms drop between the gears. If you have to tug, you're doing it wrong; it should just slip right in.
Also, if you apply these practices to clutched shifting, your passengers won't even be able to tell your car is a 5-speed. Your shifting will be smoother than an automatic.
