Just what Brad said. I recommend the hybrid almost every time, even with the automatic. In fact I don't like to deal with SHOShop anymore, but they have the best lower intake manifold mod on the market if you dont have any skills by yourself. You can do the swap, lightly port and polish your stock heads and throw on their modded lower intake manifold with 37mm secondary throttle blades. Depending on mileage you may want to have the valves done then you could be more aggressive with your port and polish job on the heads, or even go the full 3L valve setup as I did. Even with the atx you wont be disappointed. Oh yeah, if you don't have an SVT then the whole SVT upper/lower would work better, but = $$$ On an automatic it might be best to use your 2.5L heads as described above, the shoshop lower intake manifold, and then modify the 3L upper manifold to fit. It will flow better than the stock 2.5L upper manifold and give good torque gains where the automatic needs it most. My $0.99 worth of advice. warmonger

On that same thought there warmonger.. I'm using the 3.0 upper, can you port out the ports on the upper and lower to see gains?? I'm a dremel freak when it comes to free hp thanks, Derek

I don't see why not. My 3L upper that I had lying around was easier to get into than the 2.5L upper. The lowers are almost identical. Just be careful on the lower that you don't widen out the inlet and outlet too much and leave the middle too narrow. Bad juju on intake velocity.

On that note, the lower intake was very time consuming to do correctly and still retain the secondaries. If you can swing it, their 37mm lower intake is still a good part.

How can you lose power if I did a straight swap? I thought I would have the same horsepower. Why not? Different exhaust? Do I have to put a taurus exhaust on it?

He's telling you the estimated power at the wheels.
Both the SVT 2.5L and the 3L are rated at 200HP so therefore it stands to reason a straight swap would leave you with the same HP as a stock SVT. Add about 25 in the TQ department though.
Then he added the 200HP rating on the Taurus is using a quasi-dual exhaust. Drop some power for running it with a OEM single exhaust. (or even OEM piping) In other words. Upgrade the exhaust first! Perfect time for true duals. Then there's the intake and the manifolds and the...
