Your MAF, of Mass AirFlow sensor, is the rather large aluminum cylindrical tube adjacent to your air filter housing. Normally, it shouldn't have to be cleaned, its a sensor. Perhaps you mean your Throttle body?

Sometimes cleaning the wires on a MAF can help rough running problems. But the wires are delicate and are easily damaged. If you clean them, use a residue-free electronics cleaner instead of automotive solvents. Usually though it is the MAF connector contacts that are at fault, and this can be fix by unplugging and plugging the connector a few times.
