mine was flashing 5 times then a pause then 3 times - code 53 - something was wrong with the sensors. except it would only do it every month or so, then all i had to do was shut off the car and wait 5 min then restart. i took to the dealer, and they couldn't find any problems - just yanked all the connections and reconnected them and tested all the crash sensors. everything came out OK and it hasn't gone off again since.
i'd leave airbag problems to the dealer - even though they are expensive, is it worth messing with if you need the airbags?
