They aren't exactly "illegal" only certain colors of them are, like red, blue, purple, and green. But basically you can't have anything facing forward that isn't the color of your headlighs or signals so orange and white ones aren't really illegal; you may get stopped but they can't do anything to you. At least that's how the law is written up here in Okla. I have white and they are pure white, not blueish white, but pure ole' white light, they match my silverstars. I've had them almost a year or so and never once have I been stopped specifically for my washer nozzles.
