I'm seriously thinking about trying out an SVT ECU on my car to see if it runs better (a/f wise) and any gains. I know a custom chip or manage system would be better but just can't swing the $300+ nevermind the dyno tune.
I found an SVT ECU for $100 locally. My main problem is, will the SVT ECU run right with stock cams and CR? I already have the 19lb injectors, MAF, lower and upper SVT IM's and SVT TB. On top of this, I need a calibration code or a part # for the ECU. It must be '00 returnless MTX.

You'd be much better off getting a chip. Cam's, TB, MAF, are different on the Cougar. Plus, the timing change isn't that much more aggressive. If you can get 92 or 93+ ocatane gas, you can take more advantage of a chip. since it can be timed for it. Not to mention, Cougar's don't take to SVT EECV's to easily (I know!)

What about using an SVT ECU on a 3L SE? I'm very poor and have to do things one mod at a time. Everything but the 3L block is 98 SE stock. Would it help me?
98 SE Sport. custom catback, Intrax springs, 3L, 3L valves, APEXi S-AFC, 24# injectors.

Don't forget about PATS!
It's either several hundred for new keys or $100+ (IIRC) for a dealer reflash.
Dealer reflash could also do the SVT program as well.
However I strongly agree with Chris that the SVT program is NOT the way to go.
Not even for someone with all the SVT bolt ons! There is just too much internal engine work differences (EHing, cams, CR, etc) and besides the stock SVT program runs rich as hell to begin with.

Do you know a LT. Mattern there in Hawaii?
If so, tell him you have heard of his friend Tom.
