Well not always - they'll flick off for a minute then return!
I've checked archives but nothing like this:
All three brake lights (L, R & hi-mount) come on at random even when I'm not in the car and key off - locked up!!
I've checked the switch on the brake pedal - works fine and lights come on even with switch (both of them -I've got ABS)
removed from circuit. Took out fuse 24 (brakelamps) lights still on!! removed bulbs one at a time -clean, dry, filaments good and not touching second filament in bulb.
Flashers (directional and emerg) which share the same filiment, work as required- cut the power to the bulbs to create "flash" when brakes are on.
The wires are orange and orange/white respectively - my Haynes calls for Violet and shows what must be the Mondeo taillight unit and wiring in diagram - so not much help there.
Anybody got a North American circuit diag or any other ideas where this phantom voltage might be coming from?
I'd hate to be rear-ended because somebody thought my taillights were reaL BRIGHT but didn't know when I actually am braking. PS 95 Mystique with ABS. HELP

There is a relay that flashes the brake lamps when you press the remote entry that could be flaking out. Separate from the headlamp flasher which only flashes when the "panic" is pressed.
