Not sure of the year just yet (me thinks its a 2002 MY block) but I am getting it for a STEAL!

Based on my incessant interrogation of RTStabler...I found out a long block is everything +heads - cams - intake

Looking at the 2002's specs, I get 200 hp and 195 torque. Dreamy. 9.4 compression.

Now, the question is; what good would the SVT cams do, and what all would I need to replace/upgrade to get them in there? What things would you guys recommend I do to the engine, to get it to that lofty 225 hp?

Thanks!

BTW it is indeed a Duratech. Forgot to add that in there as an FYI.

Did they reduce the compression from 10:1?

I wasn't aware that they did. Why would they?

FYI guys the newer 3L's have the oval port manifolds and heads so unless you want to do the fab and machine work to make your 2.5 manifolds work or the fab work to make the 3L UIM work you're best off going pre-2000 on the engine and then using an electric W/P and controller. Just my .02

buckshot, do you have to use the controller, or is there a cheaper option??
thanks.

With the controller, the pump will run intermiently, based on the feedback from the temp probe. You can also set the thresholds manully.

If you don't have the controller, you can set the pump up to run on full blast, thus shortening the life of it, plus it cools so well, that your motor will never get to full operating temperature. This is all pure experience as my controller was dying (actually the temp probe was shorted out) and the controller defaulted to safe-full 12v mode. I installed a new controller (warantee from Davies, Craig) and everything is good now. They sent me a new controller, which included all of the wiring and the temp probe.

Or, if you're an electronics wiz, you can create a temp sensor enabled, varied resistance circuit to have full control from the cockpit. Even someone with enough electronics knowledge of the engine wiring could do a two way relay connection and use the fan switch as the trigger to go from 8V to 12V.
