How do i turn on my fog lights without turning on my headlights? I see a few other contours with this mod. Its when the turnsignals, tail lights and fogs work but no headlights. If anyone can help it would be a great help thanks.

Could someone please confirm that the Contour light switch can be pulled out once (Front Fogs) without being turned to the Dipped headlight position, this Faq seems to confirm that you can have the fogs on without the Headlights at all, The UK Mondeo's light switch cannot be pulled out without first turning it to the first light position.

You can pull the ConTique's headlamp switch out without the headlamps being on, but the foglamps don't turn on. The low-beam headlamps must be on for the foglamps to work. That is, unless, you have done the foglamp fix.

Ummm, Must be a different switch, does the Contour have a parking light position, on the Mondeo this is a push in and turn to the left.

you guys are making it hard on the guy. all you have to do is get your fog wire and splice it in to the parking lights. then when your parking lights come on your fogs will to. or you can do what I did and make them DRL and just splice them into your ignition

I just did it Static's way earlier today...hmmm...strange timing. I ended up using a relay, though. tapped into the pass. side parking light (+) wire, used it as the "signal" wire for the relay, one wire to batt. (+), one to batt. (-), and then a y'd off wire to the two foglight harnesses. Crimp splice (you know, those blue things that you stick the two wires next to each other inside and then mash with some pliers) onto the (+) (Orange wire). The harness is already grounded. Took less than one hour, counting fitting the foglight assemblies. Pics of the finished product can be seen in Pics & Vids.

To try and answer the guys original question. In factory form, you can't turn on the fogs without having the headlights on. You must modify the wiring going into the switch to do this, check out the link to the how-to someone else already posted.
To answer Neils question about the Contour light switch, yes we have a parking lamp position. The way our switch works you turn it one spot clockwise and the parking lights come on, turn it two spots clockwise and the headlights come on. Brights and dims are controlled by the turn signal stalk on the left side of the column. The knob can be pulled out when in the parking light position, but unless you've done the fog light mod the fogs will not come on.

GEEZ, this procedure doesn't seem extremely complicated at all .
