6 bolt swap...from what I know ( and it isn't all that much..lol ) the 2G or 2nd gen DSM's ( eclipse/talon/laser ) have a 7 bolt engine and the 1G or 1st gen's have a 6 bolt. The engine are pretty much the same but the 6 bolt can handle a heck of alot more power. Why? I don't really know. I do know that the stock 1G BOV can hold more pressure and don't leak over 12 psi like the 2G's do. I'm sure someone else will chime in with a better engine or correct anything I got wrong. Or you can go to www.DSMTuners.com and use there search or just post about. There are alot of very educated people on the site and they are willing to help..also most of them are anti-rice..lol

1st gen 6 bolt engines don't suffer from crankwalk (crankshaft can move laterally in the engine, not good) that plagued the 2nd generation Talon/Eclipse cars.

I thought it was the 6 bolts that get crankwalk...maybe I'm wrong. I know a few people on DSMtuners with 1G's complained about crankwalk.

Very clean, love it alot!!! My best friend has a 96 tsi awd. Black on black. Personally not the most comfortable cars. Cheep to mod tho, but then again you will probably spend the cash you saved on modding, on maintenance Any way I will definatly have to show my friend those pics, he will
