You must have used the wong products. Understandable since Meguairs has a lot to choose from. They make some very good product's but their final coat, the waxes, do not impress me either.

I don't know what the products are with Meg 3-step, but they probably won't do much for swirls. I recommend Mef #9 Version 2.0 for your buffer and wax by had. Skip anything that says "cleaner wax" as it won't clean well (probably just cover up) and it won't protect well.

Be carefull with that buffer. Rotaries are very to mis-use on a car. 2500rpm is rather high and can burn through the paint fairly quickly. Use the mildest compund you can find (3M Finesse It II or Meg #9).
