I have found that a really safe (and sure) way to remove the light "spider webs" is by using a buffer, preferably between 1000-2000 rpm, and a Meguiars SoftBuf yellow (actually an ugly tan color) foam pad. These are very gentle to your paint, but produce wonderful results. And, you will almost never get swirls (although Ive seen it done on really old single-stage enamel finishes.) If you have never used one before, I will say that they tend to get clogged easily, so don't go nuts with alot of product.
