Yes overated. I do this crap for a living and have been down the road of disappointment with maguires polishes. They have nothing that lasts and there waxes leave an oily residue on the paint.

I have found that a really safe (and sure) way to remove the light "spider webs" is by using a buffer, preferably between 1000-2000 rpm, and a Meguiars SoftBuf yellow (actually an ugly tan color) foam pad. These are very gentle to your paint, but produce wonderful results. And, you will almost never get swirls (although Ive seen it done on really old single-stage enamel finishes.) If you have never used one before, I will say that they tend to get clogged easily, so don't go nuts with alot of product.

Well I don't do it for a living but I do detail cars on the side and I have NEVER, EVER felt "oily" residue after using Mequiars products. More importantly either have the customers. To date, I've done my car 38x's, which is more of a reflection of being certified "CAR CRAZY" and my car never gets "oily", I mean "oily", come on now. This is worse than Antonio saying its like putting on peanut butter...LOL By the way what do you use on your car and your customers car? Wait let me guess....Z-a-

You must have used the wong products. Understandable since Meguairs has a lot to choose from. They make some very good product's but their final coat, the waxes, do not impress me either. I don't know what the products are with Meg 3-step, but they probably won't do much for swirls. I recommend Mef #9 Version 2.0 for your buffer and wax by had. Skip anything that says "cleaner wax" as it won't clean well (probably just cover up) and it won't protect well. Dawn clay remove swirls (#9 2.0 or stronger if necesary). glaze (skip if using synthetic wax) wax Be carefull with that buffer. Rotaries are very to mis-use on a car. 2500rpm is rather high and can burn through the paint fairly quickly. Use the mildest compund you can find (3M Finesse It II or Meg #9).

I know exactly what you're talking about. It takes forever to remove, too. Its not a real obvious greasy feeling, but under the right light, it looks as if you had washed your car with tranny fluid. It comes off eventually-I use a product similar to Meguiars Quick Detailer. That seems to remove it. But I feel your pain-I had this happen with Meguiars Yellow Wax. What a hassle.

Not to start a flame or anything, but whats the deal with everyone saying how hard it is to remove Meguiars. I'm 32 and remember my dad waxing his cars when I was a kid. When they said "one panel at a time" they weren't kidding. I actually remember helping him remove that WHITE, HARD haze left after putting on the wax, usually Turtle Wax or Simoniz. Now THAT was hard to remove, not Meguiars. Hell I've even overlooked a section on my own car and left it on there for days and it came right off ATTN: Aaron The next time you wax your IS let me know and I'll bring over the Meguiars Medallion Premium Paint Protection for you to use

thanks for the back up on this. At least someone is paying attention to what they are doing. The problem with most companies is that they are constantly reformulating their products to keep things hunky dory with the EPA. Right now we are using SYSTEM ONE for buffing, 3m finesse-it with a foam waffle pad to polish, and HOUSE OR KOLORS liquid wax for the icing on the cake. Our custome cars and trucks are continuously winning best paint in every show they hit. Thats 15+ cars. And I am working on fresh paint which does take buffing and polishing differently than anything factory or and older repaint.

Well Draven I guess we'll agree to disagree on this one. Personally I have no problem taking off Meguiars. Last night I took it upon myself to apply another coat of wax to the CSVT (coat #39). I used Meguiars #20 Polymer Sealant. After putting it on I left the heater on low, went to the store for my wife, hit Taco Bell, came home, ate and then took the wax off...no problem! Maybe you can hit one of our meets/shows in the SE MI area or I can come on down to OH for one of your meets, if its not too far In closing I'm sure the cars you do look good and because I don't do it for a living I haven't heard of the products your using, sorry. By the way, whats a full detail including claying the car, interior and engine compartment cost?

we ususally include things like that with our paint jobs to clean things up. Its been quite a number of years since I set a price on anything like that. Its just part of trying to keep a customer happy. We usually refer customers that just want detailing to the local detail shop. I dont like the headache of total details with very little profit. I dont make many meet anymore. Gave that up in my childhood years. I go to one 1 or 2 VW shows (take my GTI), but I find that vw owners are usually more maturethan most other shows , especially the onest with cars like we build. You know the rice burner jap crap and mini-trucks that cant get out of their own way I should be painting my contour by summer. Damn the ford crackle paint syndrome.

"Gave up car meets/shows in your childhood", how old are you? I'm 32, married with (2) kids and thats my time. I thought that when its in you, its in you, but after reading this post I guess not for some. Thats too bad because although I'm usually about 10 years older than most of the CEG-ers at the meets/shows, I still enjoy the company, even if I like to rock and they like to rap and hip-hop Hell I even have the reputaion for driving my CSVT like an old man and why because I don't smoke the tires for no reason, hit a corner at 45 mph, etc. I "let it all hang out" when I go through SE OH/WV, then I can really drive my car the way its built to do In closing you should try and come on out to some of the CEG meets, I think you'd be surprised that not all guys under, ah I don't know, 35 aren't all that bad
