Over on the Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute forums they are discussing what weight to use too. Some say that Ford specs the new 5w-20 because they want to improve the fuel mileage only. Not concerned about the engine life since the warranty would be up in 3/36 for Ford, 3/50 for Mazda. I've always used 5w-30 synthetic in my last few cars.
