This is driving me crazy. When I go over a bump or dip in the road I get this "bang" noise in the front end. This noise can NOT be duplicated when pushing down on the front end of the car.

I first thought that I was bottoming out! Thought I lost the oil pan, but there are is scraping on the underside of the car.

Seems that the springs have recently been replaced. Just bought the car for our daughter at the beginning of Dec. The noise started about 2 weeks ago.

The front bumper was loose and have tightened it but this noise persists. It makes no noise driving on straight, smooth roads. If you hit a dip while turning it will make the same bang noise.

Please help. Any suggestions are really appreciated!!

TIA
Christine

Something has become disconnected and is hanging loose. Sway bar? Best thing to do is have the car put on a lift and have someone take a look/tug underneath.

Nothing apprears to be loose. Sway bar is tight! Now I'm getting the noise when I turn corners on even pavement.

Had it up on lift and nothing appears out of the ordinary! Even inspected the cat. converter, exhaust system, no oil on struts, everthing things appears OK.

Help!!!! Any other suggestions???

I just had the same problem with my 98 Mystique. It happened right after the dealer performed the coil spring sheild recall. They had to be adjusted to alleviate the rubbing that was occuring. The noise almost felt like the front end was falling off when I hit a sharp bump. You will be able to see the black sheilds mounted to the top of the springs if this was performed. It took them about 1/2 hour to fix.

Thanks!!! Will call the dealership on Wed. and tell them about the problem and ask them to fix it.

After they put the shield on they never even test drove the car. A simple test drive and this could have been avoided! Never had the noise until this was done.

Thanks again!!
