First really cold day, start my car, cruising along, want to open my moonroof to see how cold it gets in the car. Moonroof sticks a little initially, then opens, when I get home, look at my car and the rubber piece that seals it shut is sticking up off the roof! On the driver's side corner it got stuck and came out of the "groove" it is supposed to sit in. I tried pushing it back in but it seems to have stretched out when it got pulled out of the "groove" it sits in.

Car's still under warranty, but I have a feeling that ford will say it's "normal wear and tear" and charge me out the @$$ for the repair. Any ideas? This every happen to anyone else in winter?

Take it back and get a new surround for the glass.

BTW, the piece you are referring to is not a water tight seal. the assembly is designed to leak some. If you look down by the top of the A-Pillars at the mounting assembly, you should notice a channel running down each A-Pillar. That's the drain tube. Make sure it stays clean. My neighbor's Caddy has a leaky moonroof cause it's a '92 and it sits outside often underneath of lovely pine trees that constantly shed their needles.

I had a similar problem last winter. It was a nice day and I decided to open the roof...well the rubber seal around the glass came off and I had to re-seat it with some automotive black silicone. Any idea how much it costs to replace the entire seal and will a regular auto glass shop do it or is this a dealer repair?
