Waterpump blew at 56,000 miles, and stupid of me i felt it coming but carelessly put it off because i thought i was part of the few whos pump wouldn't split- which is exactly what it did on the freeway... Gauge shot from O-R to PAST THE RED!! I thought "holy fu@kin $#!T", me and my girl pulled over immediately and had it towed to my house (it was 1130pm). Bought NAPA's DURA-Brand METAL IMPELLAR then next day and finally found a shop that would install it since other shops wouldn't even give me the light of day because of warranty issues. The shop i found was shop near my house, the whole staff were oriental and dominantly worked on japanese cars (no harm intended, i'm Filipino okay). I was like, hope they know what they're doing with my FORD. Well they installed it for 100.00, called my house and told me i needed a new SERP drivebelt... i said fine (since they were under there already)... they slap a DAYCO in and since then my car has a high pitched sound.. like a turbo, especially on high-revs. Many say it sounds kool, but i prefer the Deep Mellow sound by itself? any Diagnosis on this?
??METAL IMPELLAR too heavy???
??DAYCO belt???

I don't know what it is but my car does the same thing cause I have people ask me if I have a turbo and I have to drop my head in shame and say NO. I would love to figure out if it is something bad going on though cause I don't need any problems with my baby.

I get the smae thing too.....at first i thought it was the intake plennum....but now after reading your posts im reconsidering it...because mine whistles LOUD...so loud that people think I have a supercahrger.....but on a super charger its the belt that actually makes the whistle.(some times...) so im thinking its the belt's....prob not a bad thing...it hasn;t been for me and i'v had mine in for 50,000 miles...can anyone else explain it?

Took it to the mechanics about a week ago... suprisingly they claim the sound may have always been there and that i've been sensitive to it all of a sudden just because i've had work in that area (waterpump). But i know what was and wasn't there before and after the operation. They say not to worry, thats its within normal limits of "engine noise," that it isn't something he'd run to and fix right away. He ruled out that it wasn't a "BELT SOUND," its more of a bearing or pulley sound. I asked him, "hey? it can be the alternator or the bearing right?" He said, it very much so could be, but not to worry... that sounds contradictory... anyway, just thought i'd get insight from the CEG'er that may actually KNOW whats tweekin my car out. THanks guys

About the belt, DAYCO was recently bought out by Parker Hannifen. I wouldn't knock the brand. It is highly respected. If you look at gas station pumps, you will notice that a lot of the fill hoses are DAYCO products.
