Thanks to the advice I got here, I took my car into service on 12/24. It took a long time to get the parts (they said they were on "national back-order"); they finally came in and were installed today -- $90 parts, $111 labor. So far, no moose!
I found a lot of complaints about this problem, both here and in alt.autos.ford. If it is such a common problem, why hasn't Ford been pushed into making this repair at no charge for us?
