If you have a pre98 I say beat that sh!t to hell. The pre98's where built way better than the post98's. This is comming from me currently owning a SVT (37k miles) and a 96 LX auto (87k miles).
The only problem I've had with the 96 is the water pump failure. The SVT? Well, let's just say the SVT couldn't handle the abuse I give to my 96. The SVT just plain wasn't built as "FORD TOUGH" (hehe) as my 96.
On the SVT the tranny went @ 29k (clutch, master, slave, fly etc), syncos, cvboot leak, leaks in my intake manifolds... but after all that she's purrin' like a kitten. I admit I drove it like crap when I got it first adopted her and that's why I had tranny problems (first manual I ever had, I learned on it..hell my friend drove it home for me since I didn't know how the hell to drive it)
