Im sellin an Alpine CDA 7864 Head unit that is in perfect condition. Anyone hwo knows about head units knows this unit is awesome. It has the most powerful internal amp on the market, plus sounds and looks great. Drop me a line if interested.

I say head unit and Front components...I have infinity kappa 5.25 components and love them. Go 6.5 or the oversized 6.5's for better mids, and then just cut the doors to make them fit.

i would follow dave (dnewma04)'s instructions to the LETTER. he knows his stuff, and helped me get exactly what i was looking for out of my system, under budget.

Dave,

So you propose that I run an amp for the sub, and run the two woofers and tweeters for the other amp. And if I understand you correctly, those woofers and tweeters would go in the front of the car? Would they just be mounted in the doors?

I like the head unit but for some reason I am thinking that it will clash with the interior of the car. Anyone want to photoshop the HU into the dash of a contour with midnight blue interior? I would but on another computer. Its just a thought, in the meantime I think I will try to get that computer connected to the internet so this can be accomplished.

I was adding up your numbers and they came to around $451. Is there anything you would hold off on? I could always add more later and it might make sense to go quality over quantity, but then again I dont really know the quality of this equipment.

the 6.5 door speakers would go in the doors, and the 1" tweets you could mount in the A pillar, or just above the door speaker.

also, in my experience, everyone who tries to save money when doing their car stereo ends up just replacing all their stuff and doing it the right way. as for myself, i have 2 amps (actually, 3 now that i think), several pairs of speakers, 2 12" subs, and a VERY big box (actually 2) sitting in my garage. and im still not satisfied with what i have, cause im using a crappy amp i bought without doing any research. the cool thing about this board is that you can just sit back and let other people who HAVE done the research (read: dnewma04) just tell you what to get. again, i cant recommend his opinion enough.

fyi, 450 bucks for that system is a steal, it would sound GREAT. lambda makes some of the best subs in the business.

Do you think I will be satisfied? Now that is the big question.

For $451 I'd go with better front conponents for $120 with the Exact crossovers and Vifa mids, and the Pyrimid tweeters. PB12LE subwoofer, and a 4-channel amp. Dave's setup while excellent, is a lot more work wiring two amps and all the passive crossovers. Best Buy has a $99 JVC HU now until Sunday I think.

For $350, i'd get a new headunit and door speakers, and save some more money and add a sub in the future. that's pretty much what I did. I picked up a used headunit (sony CDX M600) and 4 pioneer 6x9's for under $300, oh yeah and an amp bypass fro mcrutchfield. Sounds good for what it is.Now all I need is to get the sub installed in the trunk and I should be set, but i'm thinking of going all out and redoing everything, either way i'm not out alot of money.

However, dave is th emost knowledgeble person in this forum, I don't think he would steer you the wrong way

I have to agree with them that the Lambda sub is just insane. Seriously the nicest sub I have ever heard.

Ooops! Missed something while adding those up. Didn't mean to go 100.00 over budget.

The sub is as good as you'll find under 250-300.00

The amplifiers are good for the money.

The crossovers are pretty simple to build. The Peerless, despite being inexpensive, are nice tweeters.

The goldwood 6.5s are a little boomy, but I find that most people prefer that sound.

To save some money, the Kenwoods cthomp21 has for 40.00 and skip the second bazooka amp, just use the HU would be a good start. That saves about 75.00.

The HU was just a sub 180.00 HU. No other reason to pick it. The Pioneer 6400 could be a suitable replacement. As would must sub-200.00 decks.
