Has anyone experienced problems with the Fuse Panel under the dash below the steering colum. I have a 98 Contour, the other day the clock and stereo went dead so I check the fuses and they where all fine and radio worked again, then the next day it went dead again, this time at night I check out the fuses again and noticed a short and what appears to be a lose wire in the fuse panel. Is there an easy fix or are we talking rewiring in a whole new fuse bax.

I just had this problem yesterday as well. That's why I drug this up from the Search!
New stereo install and cd player would cut out. Trouble shooting led to fuse box. Stereo is now wired off of ignition. Stereo works fine but now I can not set my time on the dash clock! Buttons decided to stop working.

I have had the same happen to me with the heater not blowing any air out so I looked at the fuse and it was fine so I tap the fuse holder and it started to work so from then on when some thing is not work I give the fuse box a tap with my foot and it would start working again.

Bending the legs of the fuse away from each other will give it better contact in the fuse box, if that's the problem.

That's what I'm leaning towards, just bent fuse contacts. I'm at work now but tomorrow I'm doing the tranny cocktail and I'll check my contacts to see if I can get better connection.
