I tried the tests myself, it works just like the manual says. Note the B+ side of the circuit is driver's side. A good ground wasn't easy to find in the back seat, I ended up opening the door and using a screw that stuck out of the door near the door stop.
So if you stick the probe at the midpoint of a line, and get a 12V reading, then you can move it gradually toward the passenger side until it suddenly changes to 0 V, and that is where your break is! And vice versa if your initial reading is 0 V.
I found one break that way, that wasn't apparent just looking at it.... and four other lines have huge gaps in them. It looks like they stuck to the adhesive of a parking permit when I peeled it off. Those breaks were easy to see from the inside, with just the sun lighting up the rear window.
Next to see if the repair kit can work some magic.BTW, I haven't heard of any recalls or notification programs.
