Local garage did the engine work and trans R & R. A local trans shop (who I highly recommend) did the Quaife.
The garage is a little hole in the wall, but the guy turning the wrenches is quite skilled. Used to work at an exotics shop (think Lambo and Ferrari) but gets better money doing mom & pop work, with the occasional big engine project thrown in. I got REALLY lucky getting a mutual friend to turn me on to him.

Damn!!!
You could get the turbo kit, LSD, flywheel & clutch for that price!!!
Heck you can do a built 3L with LSD yourself for $2500. That's a ton of labor!!!

I'm sure Dion considered the price before he commited to the project and to him it made sense. I'm sure when it's done it's going to be a very fast and well tuned car.
You've got a month or so to save for those headers Dion, go for it!
Okay, Demon, the 5400 includes the Quaife to be installed. I'm the first to admit, this is not a cheap proposition. David Z. Roger (3.0 E0 SVT), and Bito (who has the 3.0 with an ATX), were supposed to help me. David is very committed and busy with his real job, and I haven't talked to him in over two months (David was my primary guy to go to). Roger has helped me with parts. I did think long and hard about the labor costs involved with this. Realistically, I don't have the time to do it, and everyone that I was going to get involved is busy with their lives too. I would've loved to do this myself with the help of friends. But I do need to work, and I can't afford to be out of a car for a month or two. Plus, I cannot do the harder parts of the swap, I'm not a mechanic/technician. I just picked up the heads tonight, and they look so sweet. I'll try to post pictures soon.....I'm supposed to deliver the heads to SHOshop tomorrow. Besides, it's really nice when the wife says "okay" to the 3.0. I'm sure she would've kicked my ass if I just replaced the head gaskets and got an S/C instead. LOL

Can't blame you Dion. A swap is a major undertaking and without another car to daily drive, proper tools and equipment, and massive amounts of time, it just does not make sense to DIY. I'm in the same situation as yourself, no time and no backup car. So until I graduate (May!!!) and can afford to purchase another car, any major engine/transmission upgrades are on the backburner. Good luck with the install and let us know how it all turns out!

Yeah, I couldn't even begin the phathom the tools I'd need to buy, rent or borrow. Plus, bothering my friends to help me out when I'm in a jam, or didn't know what to do at certain points during the conversion. It just made more sense to me, even if others don't see it my way. As for finding out, I'll get some dyno-time at SHOshop once everything is broken in. For the record, my car dyno'ed stock at SHOshop almost five years ago at 163hp. With the intake and exhaust, it went to 175hp.

Unfortunately, no. But I did drop off the heads a couple of weeks ago, and I did see AnMRacing's car there. I drop off my car this Friday. I'm hoping to get a set of headers for it this week.
Here's a few pictures of the heads. They're ported to the gaskets, with a three angle valve job on the stock valves.

Those are 2.5 heads. How can I tell? Only two oil returns on the lower side...

They're 2.5L heads and they were also deshrouded around the valves. I was told by Vadim that the 3.0 valves really don't fit, but I know that people have fit them. Another shop owner who specializes in head porting told me that the smaller valves will create higher velocity, which would be more beneficial than a large, but slow moving, amount of air. That particular guy ports 32V Cobra heads, and was porting a set of Cougar heads at the time I called him.
