When I talked to my preferred Ford Dealer, he said he could Servicethe SVT, but he could not do Warranty work for any SVT vehicle.

There is a chance I misunderstood and I may make one more attempt to make sure I have to go elsewhere. Thanks for the note.

The following question is a little out of the scope of this series of notes, but does anyone have an explanation for the term REACQUIRED VEHICLE ? When I scanned for warranty claims on this vehicle, I found one claim at 217 miles listed under a "Reacquired Vehicle" listing. Does Ford essentially sell the vehicle to the SVT group and then buy it back before placing it in a dealership for sale?

Thanks,

He is mistaken. Any Ford or Lincoln Mercury dealer can perform warranty work on an SVT vehicle.

You should look closely at your paperwork to see just what the context of the "Reacquired Vehicle" is.

The term "Reacquired Vehicle" or RAV usually refers to a car that the factory bought back from a customer as a lemon law buy back. The dealer is required by law to disclose that it is an RAV and the customer must sign an acknowledgement of that. In many states an RAV will have a branded title. An RAV has a special warranty that goes along with it.

If indeed you purchased an RAV and it was not disclosed, you need to have a serious talk with whoever sold it to you.

Thanks Jim. I have some checking to do. This car seems flawless other than the difficult shift, but you never know. Is it possible this could have been declared a lemon at 217 miles? That was the mileage at the time of the RAV Claim.

Thanks,

217 miles hardly seems like enough to have a failure so bad that it would qualify as a lemon, but it is possible.

Post your VIN (of PM me if your prefer) and I'll run OASIS to see what it looks like to me.
