The newer ShoShop strut tower braces have a spherical bushing (at least it looks that way) connecting the bar to the cup:
(pic from SP Motorsports)

The brace I have is an older design that has the bar welded to the cups, then has an adjuster in the middle of the bar (sorry no pic). Would the spherical bushings help reduce some of this stress on the strut bolt?

I really miss not having the ShoShop brace - it made noticeable improvements in handling, but I'm leary of putting it back on. I tried the OMP brace but sent it back; I didn't want to mangle myc AC line. From what I hear, the Sparco brace is a similar installation to the OMP. What do you think of this brace from Freedom Design. Looks nice but I don't know how effective it would be and wonder how it installs.

i didn't know there was an older design. With the new design did anyone have the problem of breaking a strut.

I'll try to get some pictures of the older design tonight.

Here is the older design that I had:

You can see the bar is welded to the cups...

Anyone have any thoughts as to the design of this bar versus the newer one that has the spherical bushings on the end? I would think the spherical bushings would eliminate the binding problem that caused the old design to snap struts.

I like this but i'm skeptical since I've never heard of anybody using these. There is a link in this link for a better deal on the FD brace - $97

Anyone have any thoughts regarding the 2 different designs of the SHO Shop braces?

I'd have to say I like the new design better than the old one but both have the worry of snapping the strut bolt. I'd probably think strongly about the new design, if I wanted one.

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
