Boy is there a lot of truth in what you say!
I've been to the drag stip only once, and my first runs sucked so bad I turned a 16.4 with my 3L engine! I only got one more run that night 'cause it was so crowded, but in that next run I turned a 15.46, and it still sucked! I remember my R/T being 1.5 seconds for the last one and .... you get the point. Funny thing is on the 15.46 second run, I ran down a 95 mustang GT and ended up with a 92-93 mph trap speed (for the win I might add). I expect to do much better now since someone pointed out that I can start to go on the last yellow light before the green.
I'm learning! Any more tips appreciated.
Funny thing is, I can build the hell out of an engine, or almost anything on the car...but I don't know jack about drag racing.
