Most people who go to the dragstrip for their first time are always bummed at the end of the day, because they always expected much better than they got. Just go and do the best that you can, but the fact is, you probably wont do as well as you thought you should have. Most people who think they will get 14s will wind up getting something in the 16 second range on their 1st test-n-tune day. You'll probably have to go a few weekends in a row to get to where you can drive it good enough to acheive the min ET for your car (especially with a manual trans). This is just based on my experiences. I used to drag race for years, a long time ago, and I've seen a thousand (exaggeration) kids who come to the track for their first time with their BUILT-up hot rods and they thought for SURE they'd get 12s or 11s, and they would always leave with anywhere from a 13 to a 17! But you wouldn't go to their pits and just talk $hit to them, no no. You'd (or I'd) always go over to their pits and encourage them to not get discouraged, and to come back again next weekend, and try again, and keep trying. And usually, within a few weeks, these guys (the ones who didn't give up) would finally work their cars down to that realistic level (usually still not as low as they had originally expected), where they finally came to grips with the reality of REAL racing. The clock doesn't lie. Just don't get your hopes up too high! Not 'til you go once
