Dang, I think I found the culprit..As you may know I've been trying to figure out why my car has been so loud and something feeling like it was rubbing. Well, while under the car today I saw the rear motor mount and it was very visible cracked and split in the rubber in the lower side of the mount. Could this be the cause of my problems? I'm going to try to get Ford to fix it since I didn't have the problems before the recall but if I can't how tough is this to do? Also, will driving the car damage the eingine or drivetrain?

probably not, I've been in a bunch of cars with busted mounts. Obviously don't leave it for a prolonged amount of time, and don't be hard on the car, take off and stop easy, no sudden stops, racing, etc. The mount is there to keep the motor in place..if it's broken, that means there's room for movement. Since it's only the one broken one, I wouldn't be paranoid about it, but drive with caution. I remember one time my father had 2 busted mounts in his old sable...came out of nowhere. We noticed when he made a very sudden stop, which was followed by a bang....something rather big and important moving around under the hood!

don't sit on it forever, get it fixed. its about a $35 part and takes 5 minutes to change. if you leave it go it will ruin your other mounts and leaves the possibility of kinking or breaking cooling lines because of the added movement. definitely not an immediate danger but if left unfixed will cause problems. my roommate was driving around his sho with a busted mount only to find that his upper intake had been rubbing on the hood of his car. left marks all over the intake and on the hood. good luck!

SVTour98, your saying the rear mount only takes 5 minutes to replace? Isn't it buried under a tone of stuff?

Im getting mine from http://www.fordpartsonline.com. Best pricing i could find! I heard if you fill them with roofing tar that they will last a hell of a lot longer.

Once you jack up the car(up, not off... you sickos!!! :p ), it is readily accessible from underneath. Of course, use jackstands, and all other safety measures before proceeding.... It is a simple job to replace.

Thanks Jeff..SVTour98 or others, the mounts at FordPartsOnline ranged from $73 to $112. This seems kind of steep. I'm assuming they include the brakets. Where's the best place to purchase just the rubber (easy guys) component?

sorry it took me so long to post back. yeah that mount is very simple to replace. just jack up the car and unbolt it. you don't need to support the engine or tranny cause the other mounts will keep it in place. if you want to, throw a jack underneath with a board on top to hold her up (no need tho). i got my mount from bill jenkins @ sentry auto parts. iirc it cost around 35 or 40. i could be wrong though. make sure you're getting the right mount. i see you have 95 v6 so you can upgrade to the svt transaxle mount. would be a good time for it. sp motorsports has it Rear (770-F8RZ-6068-BA) .... $41.00 each . go there or to bill jenkins. you'll probably get it quicker (and a few bucks cheaper) if you call bill.
