I have a ghetto fix for this. The conventional wisdom is you need to install an upgraded parking brake mechanism. Bah. That costs money.

What I did last winter and which is still intact and working today is to cover each parking brake mechanism assembly with a carefully trimmed zip-loc bag, sealed tight with duct tape.

Don't laugh. It works.
