So for someone with all stock currently living in MI, looking to upgrade, what would my best approach be? Im looking for a little more than a drop in, and...can i run this with our cold winters, or swap back to stock?

I would personally get the 88.99 dollar ebay intake that has a true K & N filter with a maf adapter, and an intake pipe. Then make your own heatshield...and run a hose from your bumper to the area where your filter is. That sounds like a good option...plus that is exactly what I am running. You can run it all year long...it sounds mean and aggressive. Improves gas mileage and throttle response. For the money, you really can't go wrong with that setup.

Word is the Ebay MAF adapter is TINY.
Your best bet is:
BAT MAF adapter Large mouth K&N (choose your own size!) CTA intake pipe

Thats funny cause everyone I know loves it...including me. MAF adapter is not tiny on mine. There is an ebay one that sells for 20 dollars that has a tiny MAF adapter, but not the one I am talking about that routinely sells for 88.99 or 95.00.

It's a Metal heatshield and the filter is tiny and even worse uses an inverse cone top. That's 3 strikes right off the bat.
