nooooooo this only happens when the miles get up there on the old timing belt cause it starts to streachout causing the noise 
if you replace the belt all should be good unless there is a deeper problem
go listen to almost any 4cyl engine closely, it's a quiet and normal ticking.(i know plenty of people with new 4cyl engines, it's a normal sound). a 6cyl with same miles as a 4cyl won't make the same sound.
