Hey all, in anticipation of doing all 4 brakes this week, I have a question. What is invloved in pulling the rear caliper and install news pads/rotors? I've read that the e-brake adjusts the rear caliper, so i assume I have to somehow screw the piston back into the bore, is there a special tool i need and if so where can I get one? Any other tips/advice you can give me on the rear brakes would be appreciated, I've never been into the rears on a Contour before.

The only "special tool" you need is a pair of needle noise pliers. Use the tips of the pliers to rotate the piston back into place. DO NOT TRY TO COMPRESS THE PISTON LIKE YOU DO WITH THE FRONTS. It is really a pretty streight foreward job.

Alright, so it can be done with some needlenose eh? Cool. I learned not to compress a rear piston the hard way on my friends Sentra a few years back. This may sound like a silly question, but which way do the pistons turn to go in? Are they "threaded" in a standard way or reverse? Thanks for the help, it's appreciated.

Hope you have better luck than my dealer's mechanics in trying to remove the rear calipers. I live in the salt-belt, and something seized that kept them from removing the calipers for some rear-brake cleaning that comes with the 60000km (3 years/roughly 36000 miles) maintenance. Bent tools in trying, thought it would be better left as is.
Will have to attempt again, and succeed, when time comes to change pads...

They're threaded normal...just takes a while to turn'em in. Very slick! You don't need to take them off...they rotate up and away...put in pads...rotate down...sweet!
