Can someone tell my why you have to use a 95 engine with a 95 computer? I think the 95 can be made to use all the sensors etc that the 96 has. Am I wrong about this?

I have a Zetec from a 96 contour in my 95 mystique. It was put in before I got it. I don't know how much under the hood is 95, and how much is 96.
I do know that my CEL stays on, all the time. The engine runs great, and there are no codes stored in the computer (Ford and Autozone both checked). I don't know if this has anything to do with the 95-96 hybrid or not. The only thing I found that was clearly not compatible was one sensor mounted on the firewall. I don't even remember what it is. Has a couple of vacuum lines and electrical lines going to it. I think it goes to the EGR. I had to modify the connector to make the wires fit. I also had to change the vss to hook up with the speedometer cable. Other than that, I've not noticed any differences.

Yep.
to be more correct.... yes I just said "more correct" yes and no.... does each contour within the same years use the same computer???? answer not really... hence the code differences...  so as I said before does the focus use the same computer as a pre 98 yea and no...

Nothing I thought that the zetec from a focus would allow me to use more aftermarket things, without major mods. If I can find a tour Zetec than I would use that. Unfortunately, I haven't found any Zetecs at the junkyards that are in semi-decent shape
